Taking Warfare to the Streets VI

And the sword of the Spirit

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

All the armor we mentioned before are defensive things, to protect ourselves against the attacks. We are not soldiers take only defense ourselves, God gave us also a offensive weapon; the sword of the Spirit. With this weapon you can attack the kingdom of Satan.

A lot of people have all the protection armor, but do not have a offensive armor. That is one of the problems in the Christian church. A lot of Christians are really trying to walk with God in every area in their sex life, thought life, they try to hear what God is saying to them, they have faith no matter what happens, God is going to see them through. They fight against discouragement and depression, but because of they don’t understand what it means to have the fullness of the Holy Spirit and be equipped with the weapons of warfare that God give to us, they don’t have the offensive provision that God gave us in the sword in the Spirit. Without the sword of the Spirit you are not able to take ground.

The sword of the Spirit is Gods word (offensive). But the belt of truth was also the word of God? The Greek word for ‘word of God’ is ‘Logos’. Which means the written word of God. Reflected to the ‘Son of God’.

Sword of the Spirit is in Greek ‘Rhema’ which means something which is going by speaking.

The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God means that God speaks to us, using the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:37 For nothing is impossible with God. In the New King James Versions it say this: No word is impossible by God.

Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power K.J.Version.

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. K.J.Version.

Here we are speaking of a spoken word of God that creates. God made the world(s) by speaking words. (Let there be light and there was light, for example) Words are so powerful that it creates or destroys.

Matthew 4:4 “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone (the written word of God), but on every word (spoken word) that comes from the mouth of God’.

The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Attack with the sword of the Spirit, listen to God and ask for the direction. Do not imitate people, be imitators of God. Without the Holy Spirit you do not hear God, you cannot do what God wants you to do. This is also for healing people, listen to God. How? Through the Holy Spirit. Every word you say are words of creation or destruction.
