LUKE stands for Love United Kingdom Evangelism and is part of Operation Mobilization (OM). I have been at Luke for eight months and it changed my life totally. I asked Gary Taverner, head of the training department one simple question.

Gary, why should people come to LUKE?

Now this is an interesting question and the answer lies within the word usage of your question: Why?
It is a question which most people have not even thought about. Why would I want to go? What is my purpose for life? What is God's purpose for my life? How does God want to use me in my life? How can I work in partnership with him in mission? What do I need to become more effective, useful and powerful in seeing God's kingdom come on earth, impacting and shrinking the evil kingdom of darkness. Why should I follow the commands of Christ? Is it not enough to say that I love him? Why is it that LUKErs always talk about obedience and becoming like Christ, and continuing his ministry here on earth... It is because Jesus said so! So the question why is not answered by why should I come, but what is stopping me from coming? Is LUKE the best place for me to be resourced, changed and equipped for service in the kingdom of God? Or another agency, mission or? What is stopping you? Instead of waiting for God to say yes... why not follow the great commission, get equipped at LUKE and go? If he doesn't want you to come allow him to stop you along the way.

Should:
Better than must. Must means that everyone has to come. No! LUKE is but one of many places and resources that God has raised up to serve the body of Christ. If there is a must it is this.... you simply must be involved. We are living in the age of the most significant thrust of God in terms of mission, church planting, evangelism and world-wide events. He had filled us with his Spirit (presuming that you are!) for a purpose.... and that is not to make us feel happy. It is to become empowered witnesses. You must be involved. I hope that LUKE can be used by God to help some. If we can help you then you should come.

People:
Important. We want people. All sorts of people. People from all different kinds of backgrounds, histories, cultures, colours and thinking. We are not looking just for super-evangelists, or awesome theologians, we want real people who want to receive a relevant training to reach real people in a real world... my world and your world.

To: a journey has to be started... you have to make a decision of the will, guided by the Spirit, to break out of the mould, step out of your comfort zone and make your life count.

LUKE:
One place... but a great place.
What will they experience? The most stretching, hard, challenging, costly, thrilling, dynamic, glorious times of their life. International teams, interdenomination unity, training, discipleship (that resembles the bible not a management programme), evangelism, mission, prayer and so much more. For some there is even the possibility of discovering the life that Jesus talked about for the first time.

It is hard. It will cost everything. But it is worth it! All of it!

Well, Patrick, there are a few thoughts 'off the top of my head'. Now your job is to work out whether I am being serious, humourous or a mixture of both.
